HOME PREGNANCY TEST

A Home Pregnancy test is the quickest and most convenient way to detect an early pregnancy. One of the earliest and major sign of pregnancy is a missed period. Pregnancy tests are best used after you have missed your period. However, these days many Home Pregnancy test manufacturers claim that sensitivity of their tests is so high that they can detect the hormone HCG in urine even a couple of days before your period is due. Pregnancy tests are such a relief because many symptoms of early pregnancy resemble those of PMS, a lot.

It is important to read the instructions on the pack before using the test at home for best result.
Most brands would have a well where you have to deposit nearly three drops of urine using the provided dropper. Others might need you to urinate directly on the test strip.

One line means your test is negative. In this case if you still suspect pregnancy, repeat the test after a week or so.

Two lines mean that your pregnancy test is positive and you have conceived. Even a light second line would indicate a positive pregnancy.

No line means either you have not performed the test properly or the product has expired/ contaminated.

The test results are accurate in most cases but could give false reading in case you test too early,in case of miscarriages, after a HCG shot etc. Your doctor might ask you to go for blood test for HCG levels to confirm the results.

If the question, can you have a period and still be pregnant arises in your mind...Well, the answer is yes because, at times what you suppose to be a period could be implantation bleeding that occurs when the fertilized egg anchors itself in uterine lining. Implantation bleeding is lighter and shorter than your actual period. Spotting or light bleeding in early stages of pregnancy could also be due to initially low levels of hormones which control menstruation. A small percentage of women may even have slight bleeding each month at the time of their period, throughout their pregnancy. In such cases, it is vital to stay in touch with your doctor.
